What Went Viral? The Top 3 Trends Taking Over Social

Published: October 2025

We get it. Sometimes the math just ain't mathing. But one thing's for sure: the trends are trending.

As reliable as a doom-scroll on a rainy day, social never sleeps. Lucky for us, our job is to lean in and bring you the content everryyyyyone is loving right now.

We've got some bangers this month with a mix of hilarious culture-builders and clever transitions every brand and creator can jump on. Plus, we've thrown in some extras at the end that were simply too good to leave out. Let's dive in.

#1 "Wherever the wind will take you"

What is it?
A common saying for accepting what life throws your way that's been adapted for great content. As with all great trends, creators have taken creative liberties and depicted themselves being "unintentionally" blown by the wind towards their fave things, like snacks and games, etc.

Why did it go viral?
It’s actually a dramatized play on this trend, which popped up in our feeds a while back as a clever transition. It’s gone viral due to a funny twist and some hilarious, elongated edits of people getting blown around all sorts of obstacles to arrive where they want to be.

How can brands and creators leverage this trend?
Creators and brands can both jump on board this as a funny way to be 'drawn towards and highlight' any product. A perfect collab opportunity could be creators drifting towards their fave snack or beauty product, while brands could show people being blown into their stores. A great EGC take could be colleagues drifting towards the office happy hour.

Who participated?
Creators have dominated with some very entertaining edits. We love these two ⬇️.

We love this from Toyota, but most brands are only scratching the surface of how entertaining and creative this could be.  ⬇️.

#2 "Sticky note challenge"

What is it?
Silly, entertaining and suitable for all ages; we like that combo. What happens when you challenge a group of people to stick a load of sticky notes to their bodies and shake them off? You get a room full of crazy dancers and a prize for whoever shakes them all off first.

Why did it go viral?
It’s funny, light-hearted, and a great way to include your family, friends or colleagues (ahem, EGC). Made popular by a dental practice, of all places, it's gone viral because it's easy to replicate and SO funny.

How can brands and creators leverage this trend?
For brands, it’s a great EGC play that opens the door to fun office culture and how a quick break to laugh (and dance) can really lighten things up. Brands and creators could both bring this trend into a collab by making a product the prize awarded to the fastest shaker. That would make for some very entertaining videos.

Who participated?
Here's the OG dental practice's version. So much fun! ⬇️

Creators, the challenge is over to you to send a brand collab viral. We can see this on the streets of NYC!

#3 "Life with ✨ her ✨"

What is it?
A simple, transition-based trend showing life with (and without) that special someone or something that makes a difference. From life partners to furry friends, it can be either truly sentimental or wonderfully sarcastic.

Why did it go viral?
TikTok is no stranger to 'cute couple' content, and creators are pairing with loved ones or best friends to tug on their audience's heartstrings. While hilarious versions are circulating, it's fair to say virality has come from us all being a lil sentimental at heart.

How can brands and creators leverage this trend?
Brands can jump on this trend; we’re just waiting to see it. In the same simple way creators have shown a before and after, brands could show hunger vs. satisfaction for a food product, or stress vs. relaxation from a massage.

Who participated?
While brands get on board, here's some of fave creators bringing the love ⬇️.

And a funny, sarcastic twist ⬇️.

It'd be rude not to show this adorable furry friend version ⬇️.

What else has been happening on Social Media this month?

Social’s not slowing down. If anything, it’s showing up with more features, deeper commerce play, and a fast-growing rulebook.

Top 3 platform playbooks upgrades
1. Instagram's CEO has confirmed hashtags no longer boost reach like they used to. They’re now just a signal tool as the algorithm prefers keywords, alt text, location tags, and real-user engagement. IG also dropped a dedicated iPad app, opening with a Reels-first feed and easy messaging access.

2. Threads expanded its text capabilities: users can now post lengthy 10,000-character “notes”. Hello, microblogging revival.

3. Meanwhile, TikTok made subtle shifts in commerce and search ads with more focus on “shop-while-you-scroll” and product discovery.

Trust, safety and rule enforcement get real
NPlatforms are digging into engagement authenticity: cranky bots? Fake reels of “100k” views? Algorithms are tilting away from that.

Regulation is still on the back-burner but heating up: kids, commerce, content - everything’s getting a speeding ticket, and Australia’s under-16 ban is set to roll out in December.

The takeaway:
This past month proved (again) that social isn’t just about pretty visuals anymore. It’s about real community, smart features, and platforms that want to do more than get likes. They want to stay trusted, stay regulated, and stay profitable. Brands/creators: same advice. Get lean, get strategic, get real.
